'Landscape design is a problem solving exercise which takes into account human values and needs, nature’s possibilities and limitations as well as aesthetic qualities. To me, garden design is always about people, which I think stems from my Swedish roots where emphasis is traditionally on people and functionality of design.'

Private Gardens

From original conception of ideas through to implementation...
Mia works closely with clients from original conception of ideas through to implementation. With a passion for plants and following aesthetic and ecological principles, Mia generates creative garden solutions to suit clients’ needs. She strives to highlight meaningful contrasts such as the disparity between linearity and free-flow and the natural and the man-made through an impressive use of textures, shapes and colours.

Designing with Plants

Struggling to combine plants, buy the right quantities and knowing where each plant will thrive and what size they will eventually grow to?
When visiting plant nurseries do you mainly buy plants that are in flower at the time? Do you find that your plant borders look great for only a short period of time and you are unsure how to extend the season of interest?

These are typical difficulties people have with their gardens. Still, this is a nation of garden lovers and many find joy in working in their garden and want to have an active role in its development. So in addition to a complete garden design service, Mia also offers consultations to clients for a participative design process where learning about plants and plant composition is an integral part.
